Mission:
The Director Systems and Cabin leads the Core Competence Teams for all Aircraft systems – LDG, flight controls, fuel, ECS, avionics, electrics, etc. – flight deck, cabin systems and cabin interior.
The Director is accountable to continuously assess and build competences and resource such that sufficiently trained personnel are made available to generate the programmes’ deliverables either on their own or by managing subcontracted packages.
The Director is accountable for the implementation of and adherence to processes, methods and standards that result in the design of safe and airworthy products fulfilling the programmes’ requirements. These accountabilities span the complete product life cycle from initial concepts to in-service support.
The Director manages the Systems development group with his leaders for the Mechanical- and Avionics/Electronics/Electrics- and Cabin Departments and with the support of his Senior Experts.
Functional integration is a primary task of the Core Competence Team while Product integration is managed by the respective members of the Chief Engineering Team.
The Director of this Core Competence Unit, in close cooperation with the Advanced Design Group and his Senior Experts, is responsible to support strategic decisions to ensure future benchmark positioning of the products.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Ramp up the required Systems and Cabin competences and capabilities according to defined deliverables and agreed head count
- Lead the Systems and Cabin Engineering organisation with the dedicated departments and teams including competence management and training concept.
- Develop, enable and empower the team to perform fully integrated in the DA matrix structure
- Implement programmes’ and projects’ requirements into resource planning including core and non-core split and a healthy subcontracting ratio between internal staff and subcontracted work packages
- Ensure adequate technical, process and procedure training and expertise of the engineering team.
- Implement and support the company strategy in alignment with the other DA Engineering Groups in accordance with future needs and trends.
You’ll bring this with you
- Engineering degree (MA Eng or similar) in aeronautics / aviation / electronics or mechanical
- 10 years professional experience in relevant fields of aircraft development and product requirements
- Wide proficiency with requirements for Management, design criteria, materials and methods and tools
- New product development experience at least of one new aircraft programme
- Proven leadership experience and skill in managing an organisation with departments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritise, manage and execute multiple simultaneous tasks
- Assertive, proactive, innovative and creative
